Submitting, validating, and approving science-based targets are part of the Business Ambition for 1.5°C pledge that o9 has signed in 2021. The SBTi is a global body enabling businesses to set ambitious emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science.

In adherence to this pledge, o9 Solutions submitted two short-term and one long-term science-based targets in 2023, all validated by the SBTi. Specifically, the company has committed to reaching net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2040 from a 2022 base year. As a near-term target, o9 commits to reducing absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50% by 2030, measured against a 2022 baseline year. Furthermore, o9 commits to ensuring that by 2028, 90% of its suppliers by emissions, spanning purchased goods and services, will have adopted science-based targets, also benchmarked against a 2022 baseline. The long-term target the company has set is to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2040 from a 2022 base year. o9 Solutions also commits to reducing absolute scope 3 GHG emissions by 90% within the same timeframe.
