Rafay Launches Cost Management Service to Deliver Real-Time Visibility and Allocation of Kubernetes Cloud Costs
Enterprises Can Now Showback and Chargeback Kubernetes Consumption Across All Internal Stakeholders With Rafay’s Kubernetes Operations Platform—the Broadest Kubernetes Management and Operations Solution in the Market
Rafay Systems, the leading platform provider for Kubernetes Management and Operations, launched its Cost Management Service, a new offering integrated into its Kubernetes Operations Platform (KOP) to deliver Kubernetes cloud cost optimization across clusters located in public clouds and on-premise data centers. With 94% of enterprises overspending in the cloud and a renewed focus on business efficiency in light of current economic conditions, platform and FinOps teams can rely on Rafay’s Cost Management Service to accurately view Kubernetes cloud spend with fine-grained visibility (showback) and allocation (chargeback) for both dedicated and shared clusters. The new service is fully integrated with the Rafay KOP, joining existing services for Multi-Cluster Management, GitOps for Kubernetes, Cluster Blueprints and Drift Detection, Zero-Trust Access, Service Mesh Management, Network Policy Management and others, making it the broadest Kubernetes management and operations solution in the market. Rafay will be available for demonstrations of the Cost Management Service in booth 1841 at AWS re:Invent.

Rafay Combats Hidden Kubernetes Cloud Costs With Seamlessly Integrated Solution
Kubernetes provides enterprises with a fast and easy way to provision infrastructure resources and is often used in global, ever-changing, multi-tenant environments. As a result, Kubernetes resource consumption and spend can rapidly increase—soaring past budgets—making it incredibly difficult to not only view the organization’s cloud spend across infrastructure, but to also report how spend is allocated across internal departments. To manage Kubernetes cloud costs appropriately, enterprises need a consolidated, real-time view of all Kubernetes cloud spend across clusters in public clouds and on-premise data centers with precise allocation and reporting for shared clusters and infrastructure.
The Cost Management Service is fully integrated into the Rafay KOP, eliminating the need to install or manage software over time. This saves enterprises from adding yet another vendor or cost management console to their tech stack. Additionally, the service works with other KOP services so that platform and FinOps teams can, for example, control access to visibility and chargeback data based on existing role-based access control (RBAC) settings in Rafay’s Zero-Trust Access Service.
“Kubernetes cloud cost management across multiple clusters, application teams and infrastructure is a challenging ambition. It’s easy for individual application engineering teams to overprovision resources without knowing the impact to other teams and the company’s overall budget,” said Mohan Atreya, senior vice president of product and solutions for Rafay Systems. “Our new Cost Management Service seamlessly integrates into our Rafay Kubernetes Operations Platform, giving platform and FinOps teams a centralized, unified view of all Kubernetes cloud costs across their entire enterprise.”

Eliminate Sticker Shock From Kubernetes Cloud Costs
Gaining visibility into enterprise Kubernetes cloud spend is difficult because organizations often allow multiple application teams or business units to run their modern application workloads in the same shared clusters to save the high cost of always procuring new clusters. However, shared clusters make it more challenging to evaluate what resources each team is actually utilizing and to properly allocate the cost of resources to each application team or business unit. This leads to Kubernetes cloud spend sticker shock at the end of each month.
In hybrid-cloud or multi-cloud environments, enterprises typically run clusters across multiple accounts with cloud vendors, as well as on-premise in their data centers, creating additional cost management silos, budget risk, and reporting nightmares for platform and FinOps teams. Rafay breaks down these silos, allowing teams to gain fine-grained cost visibility and allocation across an entire fleet of clusters no matter the location or cloud vendor.
The Rafay Cost Management Service integrated into the Rafay KOP allows teams to:
- Obtain an accurate picture of their cloud spend in real-time, enabling them to manage their Kubernetes footprint with confidence;
- Have visibility and access to cost metrics based on roles by pre-integrating with RBAC;
- Reduce wasted cloud spend by centralizing visibility for every cluster across multiple public cloud accounts and in on-premise data centers;
- Optimize the cloud budget by appropriately b****** internal teams based on their resource consumption of shared resources;
- Create custom dashboards to view aggregated cost metrics for different internal groups and departments.
