Clearview AI Launches Clearview Consent; Company’s First Consent Based Product for Commercial Uses
Clearview AI, the leading facial recognition technology company that provides powerful and reliable photo identification technology to law enforcement agencies across the country, has announced the launch of its first consent based product, Clearview Consent, designed to perform a multitude of identity verification functions for commercial enterprises using the company’s superior FRT algorithm.
Clearview Consent will offer Clearview AI’s state-of-the-art, world renowned, highly accurate and bias-free facial recognition technology (FRT) to companies for use in consent-based enterprise workflows. It will be sold as a licensed product, separate and apart from the company’s database of 20+ billion facial images, the largest such database in the world. This means private companies will be able to use Clearview AI’s industry leading FRT platform, powered by the most accurate and bias-free algorithm in the U.S. and Western World.
Hoan Ton-That, Clearview AI’s CEO said, “The launch of Clearview Consent is a gamechanger – for companies and consumers alike – who value the integrity and security of their identity and assets. Facial recognition is not the wave of the future; it is our present reality. Today, FRT is used to unlock your phone, verify your identity, board an airplane, access a building, and even for payments. Now, we are offering companies who use facial recognition as part of a consent-based workflow access to Clearview AI’s superior, industry leading FRT algorithm, bringing an increased level of security and protection to the marketplace.”

Clearview Consent is designed for use in consent-based workflows, and will not include the Clearview AI database, which remains limited to government uses.
“The launch of Clearview Consent helps further our mission to help combat crime and fraud. We are currently helping law enforcement agencies across the country to solve crimes after the fact, which harm many victims. Using facial recognition as a preventative measure means fewer crimes and fewer victims,” Ton-That added. “Ultimately, Clearview Consent is all about making everyday consumers feel more secure in a world that is rife with crime and fraud.”
Practical uses for Clearview Consent are virtually limitless across numerous real-life applications such as airport and travel identity checks, secure building access, in-person payments, online identity verification, multi-factor authentication, fraud detection, user onboarding and more.
Crime and financial fraud are estimated to cost companies and consumers an estimated $3.41 trillion annually, according to the U.S. Government Accountability Office.

Clearview Consent is available today as a cloud service, with pricing more affordable than other FRT providers such as Amazon Rekognition and Microsoft Azure, while providing much higher performance and accuracy. Clearview Consent is also available for on-premise deployments, supporting businesses of all sizes, from small startups to Fortune 500 companies. The product is a developer API that allows enterprise companies and software developers to use Clearview AI’s highly accurate bias-free algorithm as part of any enterprise consent based workflow. For example, the technology can be used to help verify an ID before account creation, protect a customer from fraud before a large financial transaction, and check a passenger into an airline, all with the customer’s consent.
Until now, Clearview AI’s FRT platform has been used primarily by law enforcement agencies, which will continue to have exclusive access to the company’s world leading database of 20+ billion facial images. Clearview AI has been instrumental in helping investigators solve thousands of cases including crimes against children, homicides, financial fraud, drug trafficking, s** offenders, anti-human trafficking operations as well as victim and missing person identifications.
Earlier this month, Clearview AI reached a settlement agreement in Illinois state court that expressly affirms the ability of the company to offer products that comply with the state’s privacy law. Clearview Consent is compliant under terms of that settlement.
