Aptos and Livepeer to Expand Decentralized Video Capabilities Within Aptos Developer Ecosystem
Aptos, the Layer 1 blockchain driving mainstream adoption of web3 through unparalleled technology and user experience, announced the addition of Livepeer, a decentralized video streaming network, to the Aptos ecosystem. Together, Aptos and Livepeer will bring low-fee video streaming capabilities to developers building decentralized applications (dApps) on Aptos.
As the web3 industry evolves, it is imperative that developers building across all chains, and with all programming languages, have the tools they need to create great applications. Aptos has been designed with user experience as a core focus, enhanced by the use of its programming language, Move. Paired with Livepeer’s ability to democratize access to reliable, scalable, and low-cost video processing, Aptos will unlock the untapped potential of video developers around the world building the future of web3 through the social, gaming, and creator economies.

*As the Livepeer network continues to grow, it’s important that developers building in ecosystems like Aptos can integrate rich video experiences like live streaming and video NFTs into their projects. Partners with the shared goal of developer growth like Aptos are key to expanding web3,*” said Doug Petkanics, Livepeer Studio CEO & co-founder.
Livepeer reduces the costs of streaming video by distributing the transcoding work across the computers participating in the Livepeer decentralized network. This community-driven, decentralized infrastructure allows Livepeer to provide high-quality video streaming capabilities at a fraction of the cost of traditional providers. Aptos joined the Encode X Livepeer hackathon, where builders can submit to win a bounty for the best project that demonstrates a creative approach for integrating Livepeer and Aptos.
To date, the Livepeer network has streamed over 150 million minutes of video, passing a key milestone with a record-breaking 14 million minutes processed in October, and a 12% increase in network usage as of Q3 2022.

One of Aptos’ core missions is to provide a home for developers building future-proof applications easily, enjoyably, and efficiently,” said Mo Shaikh, co-founder and CEO of Aptos Labs. “It has never been more crucial to demonstrate diverse functionality, and Livepeer provides an exemplary platform to do so. From developing applications to powering video functionality, we look forward to expanding our services through diverse engagements, integrations, and partnerships.”
Streaming credits will be provided to developers building with Livepeer on the Aptos network to promote the inclusion of high-quality video functionality within ecosystem dApps. Additional details such as future hackathons, product and service rollouts, and use cases demonstrating the value of Aptos and Livepeer’s partnership will be shared in the near future.
