One in Tech Foundation Debuts Cybersleuths Course Series for Grades 4-12

Free courses help students stay safe online

One In Tech, an ISACA Foundation, announced the launch of Cybersleuths, a series of free online courses to help students safely navigate cyberspace. Created in collaboration with Bits ‘N Bytes Cybersecurity Education, a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering online users to remain safe from cybersecurity attacks, Cybersleuths is designed for students in grades 4-12.

Registration is free and the series is comprised of three courses:

  • CyberSafe — Safety and Security: Provides a pathway for students to learn how to identify online risks and develop skillsets to protect themselves from cybersecurity threats. The course is available for two grade bands: 4-8 and 9-12.
  • E-Learning Experts — Tips for Success Online: Helps students build new and improved skillsets to become successful online learners. This course is available for students in grades 9-12.
  • Pathways — Cyber Career Exploration: Helps students research and explore the various skillsets and roles within the cybersecurity field, including through an aptitude survey, and information about different career paths and education requirements for becoming a cybersecurity professional. This course is available for students in grades 9-12.

“With more students learning online than ever before, One In Tech believes that it is essential to provide students with resources to help them safely navigate cyberspace,” said One In Tech executive director Ginger Spitzer. “However, we wanted to take cybersecurity education a step further to not only educate students about how to stay safe online, but to also help them refine their online learning skills and learn about the cybersecurity profession as a career option.”

The development of the Cybersleuths series was driven by One In Tech’s Junior Advisory Board, which is also working with both organizations to produce a six-part video series that will complement the online courses.
