Neurala Brain Builder Empowers AI Developers in Bridging AI Skills Gap

Chinese Software Developer Network and Boston University Use Brain Builder in Curriculum to Prototype AI Faster, Better and Smarter

Award-winning artificial intelligence company Neurala has announced that it will provide its Brain Builder platform to developer education programs and academic institutions in both the US and China, including the Chinese Software Developer Network (CSDN) and Boston University, in an effort to support AI education and address the AI-skills gap.

Neurala Brain Builder is a SaaS platform that helps make AI more accessible for the developers and organizations, by providing an easy-to-use platform to manage and annotate training data and build AI applications out of this data. Neurala provides customized solutions ranging from high-end applications to inexpensive everyday products.

At the time of this announcement, Dr. Massimiliano Versace, the Co-founder and CEO of Neurala, said, “We’re excited to be working with leading developer education programs in the U.S. and abroad to contribute to AI learning and development.”

Neurala developed The Neurala Brain—deep learning neural network software that makes devices and products like drones, mobile phones and cameras more intelligent, engaging and useful.

Already, Neurala has partnered with CSDN on a curriculum to help aspiring AI programmers enhance their skillsets. By using Brain Builder as part of this coursework, developers can gain the skills they need to become proficient in building AI in real-world scenarios, learning to prepare datasets and build AI applications more efficiently, with quality and consistency.

Neurala is also working with professors at Boston University to incorporate Brain Builder into select courses.

“As we educate the next generation of AI engineers, teaching them about data preparation and annotation is a foundational element of their overall skill set,” said Dr. Osama Alshaykh, lecturer and assistant research professor (ECE) at Boston University.

Osama added, “Using Brain Builder in the classroom gives students direct exposure to the challenges they’ll face and tools they need to overcome those challenges when preparing datasets in real-world scenarios.”

Interested companies and universities can apply to be part of the Brain Builder beta program here. Users who sign up for the initial Brain Builder beta program will have preferred access to the full suite when it launches later this year.

With the Neurala Brain and an ordinary camera, products can learn people and objects, recognize them in a video stream, find them in the video, and track them as they move. The Neurala Brain is based on technology originally developed for NASA, DARPA and the U.S. Air Force and is now deployed commercially on over a million smart devices.
