SAS and Siemens Collaborate to Accelerate AI-Powered IoT Analytics

SAS and Siemens are collaborating to accelerate AI-powered IoT Analytics by leveraging Siemens’ Mindsphere IoT Platform and SAS’ Open-Source Streaming Analytics. Earlier this week, Siemens also announced its partnership with Intel to develop a cardiac MRI segmentation and analysis model. Siemens’ Healthineers division will work with Intel to develop real-time diagnoses for medical practitioners with the assistance of Deep Learning capabilities.

Focusing on SAS and Siemens’s collaboration, the latter said that myriad industries can deploy Machine Learning in IoT environments via the combination of MindSphere technology and Predictive Analytics. While for Intel, Siemens says that the company’s Xeon processors will be leveraged for AI Inference to build MRI Diagnostics models.

The Healthineers division, which already uses Intel’s processors widely in their daily operations, will also be using the company’s openVINO toolkit to execute the model(s). Already, the arrangement has delivered five times more speed with optimum accuracy for MRI cardiac scans. This could boost the cardiac healthcare sphere for doctors as well as patients on a massive scale.

Commenting on the cardiology partnership with Intel, David Ryan, General Manager for Health and Life Sciences at Intel’s IoT Group, said in a statement, “The two companies have a shared goal to improve healthcare by applying AI where the data is generated — right at the edge using 2nd-generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors with Intel Deep Learning Boost and the Intel Distribution for OpenVINO.”

“We can now develop multiple real-time medical imaging use cases, such as cardiac MRI and others, using Intel Xeon Scalable processors, without the added cost or complexity of hardware accelerators,” added Dorin Comaniciu, Senior Vice President, Siemens Healthineers.

These two partnerships are only recent examples of Artificial Intelligence being developed and deployed in multiple industries.
