Key benefits of The Institute of Experiential AI
- It advances Experiential AI – a highly applied, human-centric approach to AI with a human-in-the-loop throughout the feedback process. This is important because human intervention at the right time allows organizations to leverage data in a way that amplifies the effects of machine learning, mitigates bias, and yields more responsible AI solutions.
- It provides the industry with a pipeline of talent with real-world AI experience, having apprenticed under the supervision of some of the leading minds in AI in the delivery of actual solutions to real-world customers.
- It enables companies to bring their advanced AI problems to the institute and leave with actual solutions that address these problems in real contexts.
- In uncharted situations, the institute’s specialized team tackles unique research issues, overlaying AI solutions execution with profound know-how derived from a pool of faculty, research scientists, postdocs, and doctoral students across disciplines at NU.
- It tackles the challenge of responsible AI, providing Responsible AI (RAI) services to aid and encourage organizations to embrace a comprehensive and integrated approach to AI ethics.
At the time of this announcement, Dr. Usama Fayyad, Executive Director, Institute for Experiential AI and Professor of the Practice, Khoury College of Computer Sciences, Northeastern University shared her vision regarding the future of the institute-
“Experiential AI augments the tasks that humans do best, such as intuitive decision making and common-sense reasoning, with what machines do best such as processing large amounts of data and repetitive robotic tasks at scale with speed, in order to achieve more robust and resilient overall AI solutions,” said The Institute for Experiential AI’s Executive Director, Usama Fayyad. “Our goal is to build the leading research institute in Experiential AI focused on developing applied AI solutions that drive our research agenda, fortifying talent streams in experiential AI and Data Science, and presenting a comprehensive, integrated approach to the practice of Responsible AI.”
