Brace Up for Smart Self-Driving AI Trucks in Texas
Engineering used in the AI Trucks is touching new heights. AI-Driven Autonomous Trucks could soon be zooming past you on Texas roads, courtesy Kodiak Robotics.
The global market for Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) is growing at a respectable rate and projected to touch $36 billion by 2025. North America alone contributes to the world’s 29% of the total number of AVs. This growth is pegged on the need to make roads safer and to deliver connected car experiences to the drivers and passengers. According to General Motor’s Road Safety Report 2018, 1.25 million people perish in road accidents; 2 million are injured fatally, out of which 40,000 die in the US alone.

The major factor in 90% of the cases is Human Error. The second factor is an unexpected mechanical failure of the vehicle. When it involves a truck, the fatality rate is often 100%.
Both factors are controllable within the modern context of AI, Machine Learning and Connected Car technologies. AVs can certainly make roads safer and lives easier. However, when we talk about the AVs, the discussions are mostly restricted to luxury cars, Electric Vehicles, taxis, and three-wheelers. We miss out on the larger fleets of Heavy Commercial Vehicles, mostly Trucks and Trailers. Now, AI Trucks would make a new family in the fleet of mobility management for cargo and haulers.
A leading player in the long-haul trucking market, Kodiak Robotics, is coming to Texas. Founded in 2018, the company is already providing safe and reliable Autonomous technology to bring ‘driverless’ trucking experience to the US roads.

Self-trucking experience has far-reaching benefits, in addition to the obvious road safety promises. These are:
- Reduced Road Congestions
- Enhanced Truck-Driver Quality of Life
- Improved Truck Performance
- Reduced Emissions
- Prolonged Life of the AV
- Job Creation across the Trucking Routes
As we see more and more investments into the AV Market, especially heavy vehicles, there is high speculation about vehicle manufacturers starting their own medicare, and insurance services to reduce the collaterals. In the coming years, AI-driven Mobility and Freight Transport system would be among the fastest-growing sector in the automotive industry.
