Ericsson Technologies Help Shape the Future of Mobility

After two years of digital format, Kista Mobility Day is hosting an in-person event once again. This year, visitors are invited to visualize the future of sustainable mobility in smart cities by engaging with a wide range of 5G technologies. Ericsson remains heavily involved in the event, serving as one of the main sponsors, along with Kista Science City and the city of Stockholm.
This year, the focus of the event is Future Today, offering the opportunity to understand how leveraging existing solutions can impact the future of mobility. Erik Ekudden, CTO, at Ericsson will join the opening session to discuss what the future of mobility means for transportation in Stockholm.

Overall, presentations will span a range of topics, offering insight into how technology can spark improvements in traffic, public transportation, and the automotive industry. Visitors will also get a look at a range of use cases from many Stockholm companies, including drones and robots, autonomous vehicles, geofences, and virtual, augmented and mixed reality.

Claes Herlitz, Head of IoT Product Management at Ericsson, says, “This is a great way to showcase Kista and Stockholm as one of the epicenters for innovation within mobility. Although Sweden is leading the way on many fronts in the mobility industry, we must ensure we have the right skillset and talent to fulfill industry needs. I’m looking forward to learning more about it during the day.”

One of Ericsson’s use cases gives visitors a chance to engage with 5G and geofencing technologies in a creative way—by racing mini cars. Participants will operate the cars from a remote drive station in the Ericsson Imagine studio, while the cars will be racing at speeds up to 30 km/hour in a restricted racing area in Kista. Ericsson will also demonstrate how to use IoT Accelerator SIM management to manage global connectivity for SIMs in Cradlepoint devices.
