MSP360 Launches MCP Server, Bringing Backup Management into Claude and ChatGPT

MSP360, a provider of backup, RMM, and remote access software for managed service providers, announced the release of the MSP360 MCP Server, which connects MSP360 Managed Backup to Claude and ChatGPT. MSPs can now monitor backup health, diagnose failures, build reports and onboard computers through natural-language requests, without a paid subscription to either AI service.
For MSPs that manage backup across many clients, routine questions often require considerable navigation. Identifying every computer without a recent successful backup, or every plan that failed overnight, typically means moving between console screens, applying filters, and compiling the results manually. Onboarding a new client involves a similar sequence of separate steps, each completed on its own screen.
The MSP360 MCP Server replaces that navigation with a single request. Technicians can ask for failing and overdue backup plans, receive an explanation of a specific failure along with its likely cause and whether it originates on the client side or the MSP360 side, and review storage usage against each company’s limit. The MCP Server also performs changes: authorizing pending computers, assigning licenses, creating backup plans, and setting up companies and administrators, often within one request.

The MCP Server operates within the permissions of an existing Managed Backup account and introduces no separate access model. Authorization takes place through the Management Console sign-in page, so account credentials are not shared with the AI assistant. Users can require confirmation before any action is performed, and access can be revoked at any time.
“An MSP’s day is full of small backup questions: which clients need attention, why a job failed, whether a new client is set up correctly. Each one used to mean several screens in the console. With the MCP Server, it is one request in the AI assistant a technician prefers, working within the permissions that technician already has. And because it does not require a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan, every Managed Backup customer can start using it today,” said Anton Zorin, VP of Product and Partnerships at MSP360.
