IoT/AI Solutions Start-up, SpaceAge Labs, Raises US$1.25 Million in Seed Funding to Make Cities Cleaner, Greener, and Safer
“Growing populations, increased urbanisation, rising labour costs, lack of skilled workers, high safety standards and social distancing stipulations – various factors have been coming together resulting in the strong need for remote monitoring and IoT/AI solutions. This is why we set up SpaceAge Labs – to help governments and corporations improve the way they are managing their widespread assets for improved efficiency, reliability and safety,” explained Mr Deepak Pitta, founder and CEO of SpaceAge Labs.
Nokia and AT&T Collaborating to Improve 5G Uplink with Distributed Massive MIMO
Nokia announced Bell Labs is pioneering distributed massive MIMO (DmMIMO) with AT&T, an innovation that significantly increases uplink capacity and speeds in 5G networks without requiring an overly complex solution.
The enormous demand from new user experiences in the 5G-Advanced era will require greater uplink performance from networks. DmMIMO allows devices to leverage signal propagation to multiple cells or antenna panels in a network when establishing a link, thereby turning noise into a useful signal and increasing the uplink throughput. The data transmission is pieced together from multiple antenna panels and cell sites through distributed baseband processing. The processing load between the cell site radio units and the central processing unit is split in a novel way, reducing the fronthaul capacity to cell sites and hence lowering the cost
NTT DOCOMO and NEC are Onboarding 5G SA Core Using Energy-efficient and High-performance AWS Cloud Computing Services
NTT DOCOMO, INC. and NEC Corporation have launched a proof-of-concept (PoC) testing to run NEC’s 5G core network (5GC) service in a hybrid cloud environment that leverages the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud using end-to-end cloud-native network architecture. Through the PoC, DOCOMO, NEC, and AWS expect to prove the viability of cloud-native mobile networks leveraging a public cloud for network function virtualization (NFV).
The PoC will validate the energy efficiency and high performance that AWS Graviton2 processors can bring to NEC’s 5GC in the AWS cloud to achieve an energy-performance advantage over comparable solutions. As the first step, 5GC network functions will run in the cloud on AWS infrastructure and corresponding 5GC network functions will reside on DOCOMO’s on-premises infrastructure to verify availability and operational feasibility. The second step will deploy the 5GC network function on AWS Outposts (on Amazon EC2 compute instances powered by Graviton2 processors) on DOCOMO’s premises. AWS Graviton2 processors deliver a major leap in performance and reduce the carbon footprint for energy efficiency.
Accenture Report Finds 3.5x Revenue Growth for Companies That View Customer Service as a Value Center
Titled “End-to-Endless Customer Service,” the report insights include sentiment of more than 2,000 executives with customer service responsibilities, surveyed alongside 16,700 consumers and business customers in 13 countries and 14 industries. Through this research, Accenture sought to identify the role of service in driving shared value creation for both customers and businesses.
“For decades, companies developed service strategies that were fixated on cost reduction, which relegated customer interactions to cost drivers. Today, thanks to the abundance of customer data, analytics, and new technologies, service interactions are becoming an essential opportunity to drive value,” said Erika Simpson, managing director, Accenture Strategy, Customer Sales and Service. “There is a real need for a full shift in the organizational mindset of companies, to a model that continuously turns customer interactions into predictive insights and meaningful actions that expand trust and drive growth.”
Microsoft-owned LinkedIn Set to Acquire Marketing Analytics Firm Oribi
The world’s largest networking platform for professionals, LinkedIn is all set to acquire an Israeli startup Oribi. Oribi provides a no-code marketing analytics solution for event tracking and leads scoring. By acquiring Oribi, LinkedIn will potentially close the gaps between marketing attribution and sales pipelines with the ability to track and compare multiple marketing campaigns in a zero coding environment. The acquisition news also marks LinkedIn’s entry into the Israeli technology market with a new office in Tel Aviv, the hub of talent and innovation for Martech, AI, cyber security, and data science.
