Emma Stewart Joins Ecomedes Board of Directors to Elevate Sustainable Development
New board member brings her diverse expertise to the green building space
Ecomedes, the pioneer of a cutting-edge platform for sustainable building products, announced the appointment of Emma Stewart, Netflix Chief Sustainability Officer, to its board. Stewart is recognized for her long-time service to Autodesk where she founded its Sustainability Solutions Group.
Stewart has held executive positions with Engie Impact, a solutions and services company focused on accelerating sustainability transformation worldwide, and with the World Research Institute (WRI) as director of urban efficiency and climate. Stewart has also served as a board member of the U.S. Green Building Council, the non-profit organization committed to a sustainable, prosperous future through LEED, the leading program for green buildings and communities worldwide.
“Ecomedes is a nimble, early-stage company punching way above its weight class,” said Emma Stewart, ecomedes board member. “Major building industry players, like the U.S General Services Administration, DPR Construction, and Herman Miller, are deriving significant efficiencies from the ecomedes platform on their way to achieving more sustainable building. Their catalog of sustainable building products is unparalleled, and it is my distinct pleasure to be a part of their journey.”
Ecomedes is the breakthrough software as a service (SaaS) platform designed for building owners, designers, builders and product manufacturers working together to achieve higher levels of well-being for occupants and the planet. The platform delivers a synchronized system of record for building product attributes, certifications, rating system contributions, procurement compliance, lifetime energy profiles, and price-performance analysis – saving time and money while fueling a new generation of building products and building professionals.
“Emma’s experience in software for sustainable design and the built environment is first-class,” said Kathleen Egan, ecomedes CEO and co-founder. “We are honored to have her on our board as we continue to optimize our platform for sustainable buildings—work that will impact profit, planet, and people for decades to come.”
Ecomedes raised $1.5 million seed financing last month from new investor Saint-Gobain NOVA and existing investor PivotNorth. The funding will be used to build SaaS collaboration and optimization tools for modern commercial building product selection.
