Microsoft Adds New Features To AI-powered Copilot

AI-powered Microsoft Copilot

New methods to activate the assistant during meeting conversations, summaries, and other Microsoft Teams interactions are part of an effort to enhance the AI-powered Copilot’s functionality. In the next months, Copilot will integrate textual discussions and audio transcripts into one screen, making it easier to catch up on missed meetings. Currently, it can summarize Teams meetings. Microsoft claims that it “will be generally available next quarter with Teams Premium” an intelligent call recap feature for regular Teams calls made directly to phones. Intelligent call recap eliminates the need to uncomfortably take notes during calls by automatically summarizing them and showing you what to do next.

These AI upgrades to Microsoft Teams may not seem like much at first, but they all work together to make the Copilot feature inside Teams far more versatile. With the ability to swiftly review meetings with the help of summaries that may even tell you exactly when you were referenced, the Copilot integration in Teams is already one of the more remarkable instances of Microsoft’s AI integration into Office programs.

What Are the New Features?

To further enhance the experience for both remote and in-room participants, Microsoft is announcing new hybrid meeting tools inside Teams, in addition to their ongoing Copilot push in Teams. Later this year, Teams Rooms’ IntelliFrame functionality will have automatic camera switching. Utilizing artificial intelligence, it will determine which camera in a conference room—whether it be a room camera or a laptop—is the greatest fit. If a particular camera is blocked, it is programmed to immediately switch to the best available view for distant participants. In addition, in April, there will be a preview of speaker identification for any microphone in Teams Rooms. This feature allows you to enroll your voice and face profile, ensuring that all of your words said in a Teams meeting are accurately captured in transcripts.
