Derivita Partners With Proctorio to Extend Math Coverage for Remotely Proctored Exams as Online Learning Expands

Through the partnership, Derivita’s cloud-based STEM learning platform has been fully integrated with Proctorio’s remote assessment proctoring platform. This will enable educators to administer mathematics assessments using Derivita’s content and technology, and ensure rigorous adherence to academic integrity standards as students take quizzes and tests from non-classroom settings around the world.

Derivita, a powerful online STEM platform, announced it has partnered with Proctorio, the leading remote proctoring solution, to help educators extend remote math assessments to more students as demand for online solutions grows amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“The coronavirus pandemic changed nearly every aspect of modern life overnight, and education is no exception,” says Derivita Founder and CEO Devlin Daley. “Through our partnership with Proctorio, we’re trying to help colleges, universities, and K-12 school districts make an unprecedented transition easier on their faculty, staff, and most importantly, their students.”

Both Derivita and Proctorio integrate with popular learning management systems including Canvas, Blackboard, D2L Brightspace, and Moodle, allowing seamless integration into the existing technology stack for most educational institutions.

Proctorio’s Learning Integrity Platform uses machine learning algorithms to protect integrity in remote testing environments. Exam administrators can customize their assessments with Proctorio’s full suite of secure exam settings that include recording, lockdown, and identity verification options, allowing instructors to verify student activity while in their exam and protect the value of the degrees they issue.

From April 2019 to April 2020, Proctorio experienced a 900% increase in the number of exams proctored monthly, skyrocketing from 250,000 to 2.5 million while maintaining an uptime of 99.991% and an average support chat response time of 7.9 seconds. Proctorio is currently serving 850 partner institutions, supporting 1,200,000 active weekly users, and has collectively proctored 18 million exams in all but four countries around the world. Proctorio is now offering a free lockdown option and $5 per exam automated proctoring option for the duration of the COVID-19 crisis. Visit Proctorio’s website to learn more.

“In the past, subject matter for remotely proctored exams has been limited since STEM courses often require specific tools and platforms to accurately assess a student’s knowledge,” says Proctorio Founder and CEO Mike Olsen. “Through this partnership, we are hoping to give more students an opportunity to earn their degrees remotely, and expand the subjects that Proctorio’s platform can be used for. We want students to be able to take STEM courses and add value to the degrees they are earning, whether they are online or in-person.”

Derivita was founded in response to growing demand for better online math and STEM instruction. Derivita’s platform allows for more complex question types such as those in Statistics, College Algebra, Precalculus, and Calculus. The platform also offers an elegant user interface, improving both the student and instructor experience.

“Math is a leading predictor of student success when it comes to completing their degrees, and we don’t want students to fall behind just because they can’t enter a physical classroom right now,” Daley says. “The digital infrastructure of education was already changing before COVID-19, and the pandemic’s impact on delivery of education will only accelerate these important changes. Our goal is to provide the best possible solutions—both through our own development and through partnerships—to empower delivery of robust and rigorous educational material wherever a student may be.”
