OKCoin, a leading fiat-focused crypto exchange with service in 184 countries, announced the expansion of its global senior leadership team with two strategic hires. New CMO, former Blockchain.com Head of Growth, Haider Rafique, and former compliance executive for Coinbase and HBUS, Megan Monroe-Coleman, as new Global Chief Compliance Officer. They join the San Francisco HQ bringing a wealth of experience in the blockchain and crypto industry.

“We are very proud to announce the addition of Haider and Megan to our global leadership ranks. These are two important strategic hires for us as we continue to expand our global platform out of San Francisco.  Our mission at OKCoin is to help a wider audience capture the value of crypto and achieve individual financial freedom. As we approach the third Halving of Bitcoin in the midst of macro-uncertainties triggered by COVID-19, we believe that we are poised for the next wave of crypto adoption. This strengthening of the leadership team follows the appointment of former Goldman Sachs executive Hong Fang as CEO of OKCoin. Both will be instrumental in OKCoin’s continued global growth including focus on the US, Europe, Singapore and Japan, where OKCoin will soon begin trading in Japan after receiving its licence.

Haider Rafique, Global Chief Marketing Officer

Rafique, former Head of Growth at Blockchain.com and a Microsoft alum, is one of the few marketers in crypto with a Madison Avenue background. His unique creative edge is evident in the commercial he pioneered, starring the former Star Trek Captain humorously pointing to the folly of “trying to secure your financial future with plain ‘ol money”. He’s led several consumer and SaaS tech brands through hyper growth including Blockchain.com where the wallet user base grew from 26 to 42 million wallets during his time leading growth at the firm.

“As OKCoin rapidly expands into new markets, we need to put the right infrastructure in place to onboard and delight our customers. With all eyes on the Bitcoin Halving, there is an opportune window for us to capture the next wave of new entrants as they realize the value of crypto assets. This is the moment to create the right story that resonates with investors who have been previously on the fence. There is a lot of top talent currently looking for their next challenge in these volatile times. We are hiring aggressively to build a global team of marketers and creatives who are passionate about onboarding the next wave of crypto enthusiasts.” – Haider Rafique, OKCoin CMO.
