In the latest report, Huawei Technologies Co Ltd (Huawei) has emerged as the most mentioned company among the top 10 tech companies, followed by Nokia Corp (Nokia), based on social media conversations among Twitter influencers during the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2022. The Social Media Analytics platform of GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, revealed these findings.

Smitarani Tripathy, Social Media Analyst at GlobalData, comments: “The in-person event, held in Barcelona from 28 February to 03 March 2022 after a couple of years with a bunch of announcements on innovation and strategy, has pushed the social media conversations about 200% higher when compared to the previous year.”
Telefonaktiebolaget LM Ericsson (Ericsson), Telefonica SA, Microsoft Corp, Samsung Electronics Co Ltd, Deutsche Telekom AG, Lenovo Group Ltd, International Business Machines Corp., and Dell Technologies Inc., were the others which featured in the list of top 10 most mentioned tech companies during the period.
Huawei accounted for a 30% share of influencer conversations on MWC 2022. Discussions around Huawei were majorly focused on the company’s wide array of innovations including its latest flagship MateBook X Pro 2022 and other smart solutions which focused on smart office capabilities. Influencers also discussed how the architecture of Huawei’s Intelligent RAN can manage the 5G complexity and support energy consumption and emission reduction.

Nokia emerged as the second most mentioned company with 14% share of influencer discussions during MWC 2022, majorly led by the launch of a series of smartphones such as C21, C21 Plus, and C2 2nd Edition as part of licensee HMD Global’s 2022 offerings. Nokia also deployed the world’s first 5G Edge slicing solution on live commercial to enhance enterprise business and revenue opportunities.
Ericsson was the third most discussed company with a 13% share of influencer conversations during MWC 2022. The conversations on Ericsson were majorly driven by their campaign ‘#EricssonAmbassadors’, where influencers shared posts related to the company and major announcements throughout the event. Influencers also appreciated the innovation in network slicing by the partnership of Ericsson with Telekom, which was presented for the first time worldwide to provide guaranteed quality of service (QoS) between Germany and Poland via 5G end-to-end network.
Tripathy continues: “‘5G’ was observed as the key tech trend among influencer discussions during MWC 2022 event. Influencers discussed various innovations and applications of 5G; and how the rollout of 5G technology will revolutionize every aspect of various industries, for which top companies are coming forward for network expansion.”
Some of the most discussed topics around 5G were ‘Ecosystem for better customer experience’, ‘5G enabled routers’, ‘RAN Technology innovation in 5G Era’, ‘5G radio network’, and ‘5G in Disruption of Autonomous Vehicles.
Other top mentioned trends were IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud, Data Science, Javascript, Robotics, Metaverse, Machine Learning, Virtual Reality.
