Aerospike Dramatically Enhances Enterprise-Grade Security and Delivers Critical Developer Support
Aerospike 4.6 Significantly Enhances Existing Enterprise-Grade Security and Delivers Critical Developer Functionality for Hyperscale Data-Intensive Applications
Aerospike Inc., the global leader in next-generation, hyperscale data solutions, announced the general availability of Aerospike 4.6, significantly enhancing enterprise-grade security and delivering new, developer-centric functionality required for building data-intensive, real-time applications.
For years, Aerospike has supported multiple important enterprise-grade security features such as Lightweight Directory Access (LDAP), Transport-Layer Security (TLS), Role-based privileges, data encryption in-flight, data Encryption-at-Rest using symmetric AES-128 encryption, and configurable audit trails.

Aerospike 4.6 delivers enhanced security functionality to further mitigate insider threats under a zero-trust architecture and helps enterprises meet modern compliance requirements. New security features include:
- Kerberos Network Authentication Protocol: Provides strong authentication for client/server applications by using secret-key cryptography.
- Whitelisting: Provides granular access restrictions at the domain and user level.
- Write-Only Roles: Provides role level access controls for writing back and overriding existing data.
Aerospike has provided features to make it easy for developers to build hyperscale data applications for over a decade. Aerospike’s client libraries include a REST client, Java, C, Python, Go and a number of other popular clients. In addition, Aerospike has supported a rich API for Complex Data Types (List and Map) since 2015.

Extending on these developer features, Aerospike 4.6 makes it easier to develop more sophisticated complex data models in support of applications requiring performance at hyperscale. New developer features include support for:
- Nested Complex Data Types: Enables the application of popular List and Map atomic operations on deeply nested data structures.
- Bitwise Blobs: Adds atomic bitwise operations to be used on Binary Large Objects (BLOBs).
“Aerospike is furthering its leadership in database security and developer support,” said Srini Srinivasan, founder and chief product officer, Aerospike. “Enterprises have come to expect rigorous data security from us as well as support for developing hyperscale real-time applications. The release of Aerospike 4.6 demonstrates our commitment to providing them an unbreakable competitive advantage.”
